The woman behind the pen
I grew up surrounded by words, and it was wonderful. It seemed like there simply were not enough books in the world, so I started to write my own stories to fill in the gaps.
My mom was also working on her first novel, and I was her #1 beta reader. Together, we formed a community of writers of all different genres called Author's Ink. Each member would read each other's work and provide feedback. This is where my love for writing and editing really grew. Despite my age, I became known as a sharp eye with a knack for catching inconsistencies without taking away from the storytelling.
Fast forward to graduating with an English degree and I wasn't sure which direction to go. At the time, most editing jobs were located in New York City, and for this small town girl that was a big ask. I explored copywriting but eventually discovered technical writing, where I fell in love with repeatedly solving the puzzle of creating text that was informative, clear, and concise. I think having experience in both these fields (on top of retail and customer service, which we all know builds character) makes me the extremely well-rounded, user-centered writer and editor I am today.
The two girls that make me a dog mom! They're both Shiba Inus, a Japanese dog breed, and they act just like cats. As a dog person, I feel a little scammed, but they've weaseled their way into my heart so it's too late.
